The project
Malnutrition, lack of exercise and psychosocial stress are risk factors for the health of children and young people. The following describes a study and research project that pays particular attention to the factor of overweight and obesity. The aim is to define and evaluate key framework conditions for health projects and a health-promoting environment in schools in order to achieve the greatest possible impact on the health parameters of students. The specifications should be designed in such a way that they can be generally implemented in as many schools as possible and are transferable. A participatory and long-term approach that focuses on the behavior and relationship area with the involvement of teachers, parents and students forms the basic understanding of the project.
The ideas and the concept are based on decades of experience and expertise of the project team, a current literature research with interprofessional discussion and pilot studies that have already been conducted.

A 4-year standardized health program developed according to the latest scientific findings, discussed by experts and adapted specifically for schools is to be scientifically tested for its effectiveness. Biometric main target variables have been defined for this purpose.
At the same time, accompanying scientific research will discover possible improvement potential of this program and determine reasons for its effectiveness (or ineffectiveness).
A comparison with non-standardized schools is planned.
The aim is to establish a scientifically sound, effective health programme that can be easily adopted in all schools and has an immediate positive impact on the body weight and health of pupils.
